There’s competitions for festival slots reaching their exciting climaxes aplenty this week. First Centre Stage 2012 (won by the marvellous GLASSBODY), then throughout this afternoon we find out who’s heading to Leeds Festival with the Futuresound Comp, and tonight six bands fight it out for two slots at Bingley Music Live at St George’s Hall in Bradford…
Contenders gearing up for tonight’s musical bout are:
The two winners will open the Main Stage at Bingley Music Live on August 30 and Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2.
Headlining tonight will be Chelmsford rock’n'soul stars THE MILK. Nowt but good things have been said about this lot since they got A&R men’s ears twitching back in 2010. Their recent single Every Time We Fight is a bouncing three-and-a-half minutes of Motown rock. It’s a fresh-yet-familiar sound which is fairly difficult to peg. I was thinking Finley Quate meets Hard-Fi, but that’s not going to sell it.
It’s a great tune, and the new album Tales From The Thames Delta, is out on Monday, September 3 – only a couple of days after their appearance at Bingley Music Live. Check them out:
The video’s directed by that chap from The Inbetweeners. His cheeky face pops up a few times in there, too. Nice.
