This week has been great. I’ve watched more than 20 young bands do their thing at the Wardrobe in Leeds, hoping to make it through to the CENTRE STAGE 2013 finals this summer.
The best thing about each night was looking through the names of the bands and looking forward to seeing what they’re all about. And some of them have been awesome. Really awesome. I love it when a band steps on stage and within minutes gets you a little giddy inside.
Me, Mike Heaton and Mickey Dale from Embrace, Isaac from Rock School and Michelle from BCB and Yorkshire Music Collective had a fun time narrowing down the list of bands to the eleven top acts. Yeah, eleven. Not ten. This competition goes to eleven. One louder…
So, without further ado, this year’s Centre Stage finalists are:

Well done, you lot! You were up against some strong competition, but you had that little something extra. We’ll be seeing you all at the O2 Academy Leeds for the Centre Stage 2013 finals on July 17. Tickets for that are on sale now from HERE.
I just want to say a massive congratulations to all the bands who have taken part in this year’s competition. Your fundraising efforts will help make a huge difference to the children who spend time at Martin House Children’s Hospice and their families. You should all be so very proud of what you’ve achieved.
Those who didn’t make it through to the finals, don’t lose heart, stay focused, practice, play shows, write more tunes, and come back next year for another go. Quentin’s Basement have proved it’s well worth it!
See you all at the finals!
