Last night saw ten young bands take part in the Centre Stage 2016 finals at the O2 Academy Leeds. It was a pretty awesome night as usual, helping to raise loads of cash for Martin House Children’s Hospice.
With some pretty startling talent on show, it seems the judges had their work cut out for them as they had to pick a winner and that accolade fell on York indie-pop four-piece FAUX PAS.
The band put on a very assured performance on the Academy’s stage, brimming with confidence and knocking out some right good tunes that got the place bouncing – a really impressive turn, despite the limited set time.
Faux Pas are now set for a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds and Reading Festivals next month, and they get a snazzy music video made with Shot By Sodium, who have generously offered this prize for the last couple of years.
Before they head to Branham Park on the August Bank Holiday weekend, they’ve got a cool hometown headline show at Fibbers in York on Friday, August 19 with THE INDIGO PROJECT, DOS CERVEZAS and last year’s Centre Stage winners THE MALLRATS.
You should definitely get down to that show. Three of those four bands tore up the Academy last night, so the gig will go off it. You’ve been warned. Get your tickets and more info HERE.
