Green Day are no strangers to West Yorkshire, having enjoyed a long history with the area which stretches all the way back to their beginnings.

The trio played their first-ever UK show at the Top Spot snooker club in Huddersfield in December 1991. They had to move the snooker tables to one side of the room, the band played a fierce set on the floor, and about 40 people were there – including us!

They returned a couple of years later for now-legendary shows at the Duchess Of York in Leeds in 1993 and 1994 when Dookie sent them on their way to true pop punk stardom.

The full set was available on Youtube not that long ago, but it appears to have been taken down. Here’s a classic wonky VHS clip of Only Of You which features on Green Day’s debut EP:

They were back four years later playing at V98 before returning to play Leeds Festival in 2001and headline the event in 2004 and 2013.

It’s awesome to have them back just over 25 years since their first show!
