INTRODUCING >> Misty Miller

I like finding acts by chance. MISTY MILLER dropped on my radar purely by accident. Or confusion, in all honesty – I thought I’d been recommended a new singer-songwriter, but I couldn’t remember her name, only that it began with M. M… M… Lots of dead ends later and I caught her name on the side of a Guardian review I was reading in the wee small hours. Bingo!

Or so I thought. Turns out she wasn’t the singer/songwriter I was told about. But still, the title track from her new EP Girlfriend was in my head. Serendipity can be a wonderful thing. As long as it’s not the John Cusak rom-com.

After a bit more investigating, she’s not necessarily that new, either. She’s been writing songs since she was eight and recorded her debut album when she was 15 – it sold more than 60,000 copies – and she was the Guardian’s ‘new band of the day’ #969 two years ago. Must pay more attention.

Anyhoo, with more than a hint of good timing, the EP came out a couple of days after this incidental revelation. And now she’s just been announced as Jake Bugg’s tour support and she’s joining him later this month at the Barbican in York.

She’s offering up a FREE DOWNLOAD of Little Drummer off the EP. Grab it below >>

She used to be a bit of a hippy chick, all ukuleles and flowers in her hair. Now she’s found her inner-Patti Smith and blossomed into a bona fide rock chic. Seems the perfect bridge between the two sounds is this laid back, smokey version of The Turtles’ Happy Together, used in a recent Burberry Fashion Week show. Swit swoo!

What. A. Voice.

The South London 18-year-old is on a bit of a roll at the mo, and what better way to reach out to more would-be fans than head out on the road with young troubadour de jour JAKE BUGG, whose current UK tour is pretty much sold out.

If you’re lucky enough to have bagged tickets to Bugg’s show at the Barbican in York on March 29, make sure you get down nice and early and catch Misty. It’ll be well worth it.
