This morning, multi-site punk, rock and hardcore bash SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL revealed the first six acts heading to Leeds, Hatfield and Birmingham next May Bank Holiday.
2018 will mark the 25th anniversary of Arizona emo rockers JIMMY EAT WORLD and will celebrate with a Slam Dunk headline performance – a festival exclusive. The band formed in 1993 before releasing their debut album in 1994.
Since then, the four-piece have build a die-hard following (us included) and their latest album, Integrity Blues, is a sure-fire return to form. This will be one heck of a show, as they make their Slam Dunk debut (what took them so long?!) alongside festival favourites TAKING BACK SUNDAY.
The Long Island rockers boast a similar long-standing fan base since they released their awesome debut album Tell All Your Friends in 2002. It’ll be great to have Adam Lazzara and his crew back in Leeds – the first time since their last Slam Dunk show in 2015.
Joining Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday will be Florida’s SLEEPING WITH SIRENS, FOUR YEAR STRONG, STATE CHAMPS and TRASH BOAT.
They had us sold at ‘Jimmy’, so we know this is going to be a pretty neat affair, kicking off at Slam Dunk’s spiritual home of Millennium Square in Leeds and surrounding venues, before travelling to the new location of Hatfield Park, and finishing at Birmingham NEC.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, priced £49 (or £55 including the infamous afterparty) – a snip for these bands alone, baring in mind there will be so many more announcements in the coming months.
A first for 2018 will be a handy payment scheme, allowing you to reserve their ticket for a small cost and pay the rest in installments up to the event. For more details, head on over to www.slamdunkmusic.com.
