LELO is the moniker for former Lone Guns drummer Ronan Peaker’s new act. To say it’s a solo project isn’t quite right, nor is it a band as such.
The wistful indie pop vibes are the brainchild of Peaker and brought to life in the studio by him and Embrace’s Mickey Dale. Live, he has friends joining him on stage – recently Glass Mountain frontman Harry Hanson took up guitar duties.
The result is a very serene flow of sparkling melancholia, and new single Breathing sees Lelo raise the bar further after his debut EP Different Types Of Love. Unfolding from a sparse, synth-fuelled intro, Breathing blossoms into delicate but dramatic dream-pop.
“For once I’m breathing. The air tastes harsh but clear. I’ve lost all feeling while I’ve been stuck in here,” Lelo opens up with. The tune offers a chilled sense of hope – less angsty and needy, more aching optimism.
