It’s been a while since Seattle dance-rock masters MINUS THE BEAR played Leeds. It was supporting Jimmy Eat World at the Academy in 2010, I think. Before then, it was 2007 at the Cockpit – six years ago! Crikey! Luckily, they’re back there again in April.
Armed with a canon of new tunes from fifth album Infinity Overhead, which came out last September, the band are embarking on a big UK tour, calling at The Cockpit in Leeds on Tuesday, April 30.
They’ve dragged their heels slightly, leaving it seven months from release to tour (though some lucky sods got to see them at V Festival last summer), but the show will be well worth the wait.
If you’re not familiar with their stuff, start at the beginning and get hold of Highly Refined Pirates – their first (and my favourite) album. You might as well eat up your bandwidth on Spotify and listen to their evolution over the last 11 years, landing on the band’s heaviest (though still pretty darn poppy) offering, Infinity Overhead.
