I clean forgot to flag up the first lot of additions to the BINGLEY MUSIC LIVE line-up a couple of weeks ago, so I’m slightly more on the ball with this morning’s announcement of new acts heading to Myrtle Park over the weekend of August 30 to September 1.
Joining The Cribs, the Wonder Stuff and Primal Scream will be 80s synth-pop heroes THE HUMAN LEAGUE, Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey, collectively known as sun-kissed electro-popsters SUMMER CAMP, Derby rockers THE STRUTS, and THE ELCTRIC SWING CIRCUS, a Birmingham six-piece who bring cool elctro beats and 20s swing and doo wap.
Previously announced were newly-reformed THE FRATELLIS, X Factor’s ‘A-Flop’ finalist LUCY SPRAGGAN, pop-soul star CHARLIE BROWN, THE LAKE POETS, which despite the plural, is one man from Sunderland, Martin Longstaff (though he does play live with a bunch of his friends), beardy rockers THE TEMPERANCE MOVEMENT and Britain’s Got Talent’s LOVABLE ROGUES.
Quite an eclectic line-up forming – pretty much something for everyone – which is the appeal of the festival, really. I’ve been to the past five events and loved it (apart from the rain last year) – you’re going to have a good singalong with a well-established act, enjoy something a little different and discover new music and tomorrow’s big names (remember watching a young man called Jake Bugg on the smaller stage last summer?).
Tickets are £45 for the weekend from www.bingleymusiclive.com/tickets or from the following outlets: Jumbo Records, Crash Records, Cottingley Bridge Stores, Saltaire Visitor Centre, Keighley Cash Office, Shipley Cash Office, Bingley Council Shop, Bradford Visitor Centre, Ilkley Visitor Centre, Haworth Visitor Centre and Leeds Visitor Centre.
