Skrillex returns to Yorkshire in the new year

From hardcore punk to hardcore dubstep, SKRILLEX clearly loves to make some big noise. The rocker-turned-DJ is still every mum’s (and girlfriend’s) worst nightmare when it comes to cranking up the stereo – check out Rock n Roll (Will Take You To The Mountain) below for proof – and he’s even louder live. Deadmau5’s mate has just announced a new 2012 tour, and it all begins in Leeds…

Skrillex – real name Sonny Moore – has risen up through the ranks of dance heroes in the last 12 months, and, thanks to his previous role as frontman with emo outfit band From First To Last, has made those punk kids grab some glow sticks and learn to rave.

If you’ve not heard his racket before, do some investigating. His sound is soooo exciting, so noisy and aggressive. It’s punk rock with laptops, samples and drum machines. Reminds me of the first time I listened to Does It Offend You, Yeah, only louder.

If you missed out on tickets to his sold out show at the Leadmill in Sheffield in November, fear not. His UK tour kicks off at the O2 Academy Leeds on Friday, February 10. Be there!

Tickets go on sale next Friday (November 4) at 9am from HERE.

Skrillex has also been working with The Doors as part of a music and film project called Re:Generation, which sees five of today’s leading DJs (inclusing Mark Ronson) work on new material with artists from different genres – classical, jazz and country. Sounds interesting. Check out the documentary’s trailer:

Is that Leann Rimes? Sorry about that…
