Leeds rockers CHINA RATS are doing rather well for themselves, though it seems they’re not raking it in just yet, as their new song N.O.M.O.N.E.Y is a driving anthem of destitution.
It’s the lead track from their new Don’t Play With Fire EP, which is out on October 14. The video for it is a wonderful stop-motion affair, painstaking crafted from coins, notes and plenty of creative flair by acclaimed animator Richard Swarbrick over 15 months.

Appropriately, N.O.M.O.N.E.Y, the song will be available on a ‘pay what you can’ basis through their Bandcamp page.
The fourpiece are heading out on a 14-date UK tour next month, kicking it off with a show at the Brudenell Social Club on Tuesday, October 1. In line with the skint theme, if you’re one of the first five people to turn up and plead poverty convincingly (the press release is suggesting to use plenty of creativity, as free entry will be at the discretion of the venues).

We saw this lot at Leeds Festival and Bingley Music Live the following week. Something didn’t click at Leeds, but they were class at Bingers, and this tune is really good, like a brattish Vaccines with bags of indie swagger. Go see them.
