Last week I went over to The Hop in Wakefield for a special gig in the tiny upstairs room. After seven years away, EMBRACE took to the stage to preview tracks from their forthcoming album, as well as a few favourites, to a small crowd of family and friends.
Sworn to secrecy prior to the gig (not an official Secret Gig, by the looks of it), I was really looking forward to the band’s new tunes, having already been told to expect the unexpected. Bang on.
They played five new tunes and they sounded immense. Dark and brooding, with electronics and powerhouse percussion hammering through Richard McNamara’s sharp guitars and brother Danny’s potent vocals, Come Back To What You Know this ain’t.
We can’t wait to hear the album, so for now we’ll have to make do with this creepy teaser video >>
Pretty epic. And scary.
On Facebook, they’ve teased us with “Our first gig back in over seven years and it’s our most ambitious to date. If you want to come, share this message and join the secret list.”
