Ahead of her new EP’s release, alt-pop multi-instrumentalist THE JAPANESE HOUSE is heading back out on tour this week.
The Japanese House – Amber Bain to her family and friends – has spent the last few months working on her new tunes (from this release and her forthcoming album) with The 1975 drummer George Daniel, who found himself with some spare time after breaking his shoulder while his band were on tour in the States.
Her third EP, Swim Against The Tide is out on Friday, November 11 and you can check out the first song to be released from that, Face Like Thunder, below:
Face Like Thunder is another delicious slice of dreamy alt-pop, skewed harmonies and warming synths hide an unsettling narrative.
“I kiss the floor, curled up in a ball,” she confesses, a brutal honesty pouring from the rather dehumanised vocal delivery as the twisted melodies paint a beautiful pastel-coloured malaise.
Before the EP lands, she’s heading out on her second headline tour, after spending a good chunk of this year touring the world with (label) mates The 1975.
